Michael Phelps Diet

How does your diet look like? One pretzel or cornflakes with a cup of coffee in the morning? Now compare it with the diet of the conqueror of most Olympics medals – Michael Phelps and his meals.


What does Michael Phelps eat for breakfast?

  • Sandwich with three fried eggs, together with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise;
  • Omelet with five eggs;
  • One bowl of grits
  • Three pieces of French toast with powdered sugar;
  • Three pancakes with chocolate;
  • Two cups of coffee.

Overall, Phelps enters about 12,000 calories a day while training. Compared to 2500-3000 calories per day as it is recommended and it is normal, Phelps’s diet sounds frightening!

However, this diet is quite normal for Olympic athletes as Phelps. Look at his photo, he looks perfect – obviously he burns all the calories that he enters.

Phelps drinks energy drinks for lunch, valued around 1,000 calories, about half a kilogram pasta with tomato sauce, two large hams and cheese sandwiches (and mayonnaise) on white bread.

For dinner, Phelps eats six to eight slices of pizza, half a kilogram pasta with tomato sauce and another 1,000 calories “hard” energy drinks.


This diet is specially made for Olympians. Obviously, with 8 gold medals only on this Olympics, we can conclude that it was more than successful.
