Having a sister is more precious than anything else.
She can be the most irritating and the most loving person at the same time in one body.
Sometimes you would want her to disappear and regret having her but then again, you remind yourself that your life would never have been the same without her presence.
And let’s face it, you cannot imagine your life without her. After all, having a sister is a gift that not everyone receives.
And growing up with a sister even makes you a better person for a number of reasons.
Let us take a look at some of them.
1. Your sister helps you become a better communicator
This can only make complete sense considering the fact that sisters tell each other everything. Those revealing late night sister talks about all things in life prepare women to be more open and understanding with their romantic partners in later years.
2. She helps you grow your self-esteem
Sisters are kind and caring towards each other. This gives you a priceless feeling of love and protection, which will in turn help you build your self-esteem. The caring environment your sister provided for you will help you immensely in the years to come.
As time goes by everyone goes their separate ways, and it’s the sisters who keep the family intact. They have incredible motherly instincts, and they are the ones who will do anything in their power to keep everyone together.
3. Having a sister reduces your chances of divorce
Sisters help reduce the chances of divorce. Sure, having a sister does not mean that you’ll never get divorced. Although that would be amazing. But, it is good to learn that for every sibling one has, their chance of divorce is lowered by 2%.
4. Your sister will make you more emphatic
Your sister will show you how to connect to others on an emotional level, especially the people who need attention. She will show you how to recognize human emotions and you will in turn become a more emphatic person.
Because any time your sister was in trouble, you would turn to help her. You felt her pain. And later on you became like that with others. That is how your sister has helped you become a better person.
5. Your sister helps you keep calm and sane
Your sister is your sounding board and most trusted ally. Having her by your side encouraging you when you most need it can be better than a large dose of medicine sometimes.
6. She teaches you the meaning of independence
Growing up alongside your sister teaches you a vitally important thing – you learn how to fight and stand up for yourself.
You know that unless you speak up, your opinions won’t be considered. Your sister has taught you how to become the independent person you are now.
7. Sisters are always there for each other
No matter the time of day (or night), and no matter the situation at hand, sisters are always on stand by. They never have to face the troubles of life alone because they always have each other.
