This Kind Of Cancer Develops Very Fast, And Many People Think That It Is Just Acid Reflux

There is shocking news concerning esophageal cancer. According to a research, it is estimated that the number of people diagnosed with this type of cancer will rise up to 140% by 2025.

One of the main reasons is late detection due to its symptoms that are often mistaken for indicating other health conditions like acid reflux and difficulties with swallowing.

One such case where the patient waited too long to check the warning signs is the case of the American Jay Rensberger. He suffered long time from acid reflux which according to him was a usual condition, until his wife persuaded him to visit a doctor.

Once the prescribed medication failed and his condition got worse, doctors suggested that he did endoscopy where they examine the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract.

Esophageal cancer appears 4 times more often in men than women.

Jay’s results showed what everyone feared of. Luckily, he survived due to early detection, so the esophagus cancer was immediately removed by operation.

Because of its late detection that happens more than the early one, the death rate in these cases is high and only 20% of people manage to survive.

According to Michael Sprang, professor of gastroenterology at the Medical University of Illinois, there’s no reason to panic in case you have problems with acid reflux only.

But, if your problems with acid reflux don’t decrease after taking medicines, you should visit your doctor as soon as possible, in order to schedule for endoscopy.
